  it's up to some 800 zillion dollars now and hasn't suckered me in yet.

  i've been out of watchtower for some 38 years now and i suppose the lottery is one of their nonoze.

  i have nothing morally wrong against it or anyone who enjoys doing it.

  Putting your money into lottery tickets is foolish IFF* you are subsisting on a paycheck-to-paycheck or welfare payment-to-welfare-payment basis, but if you're in a better situation and the base of your hierarchy-of-needs is covered AND the money you're spending is your own**, what's the harm of taking a chance on winning HALF A BILLION DOLLARS?

  Yes, the odds that YOU will win if you buy a ticket may be miniscule, but if you do not buy a ticket, the certainty that YOU WILL NOT WIN is 100%.

  * It's in the dictionary, look it up. If you don't own a dictionary, call me "rood" or "harch".

  ** I realize that these conditions rule out half the people on this forum, but I'm talking to the other half.

  when i was a teenager, i was told by an elder that because i smiled a lot and was known for my good sense of humor, that i should come across as "more serious".

  so before i was appointed a ms, while in my late teens, i transformed myself into a much more "serious" brother.. were you ever told that you needed to work on something that you knew was stoopid?.

  I was told by Bethelite Mike Smilnak in the early 1970s that my sideburns were 1/8" (3mm) too long.

  Maybe in his own way, he was trying to show me what utter bullshit the Watchtower was. Probably not though.

  this was how it was described to me yesterday by a brother who has been there for some 40 years.

  "everyone is about gone; the governing body is set to leave within 2 months; the kitchen and laundry personnel are gone and i have to fend for myself now.".

  "also the aggravation of 4 to 5 business men in suits with clipboards daily checking out the watchtower properties.
